At a glance
The Getreide AG, a globally active trading house, has a strong focus on commodity trading. Additional activities include the production of crop seeds, animal feed, oil and food production, malt and the distillation of alcohol.
Getreide AG acts as a leading wholesaler of fertiliser and crop protection products within the German market. Its locations are stratically close to export harbours and major agricultural areas, which leads to an optimization of its logistics.
The Getreide AG is a family owned group of companies. Its origins were the two agrarcultural trading houses of Messrs. Chr. Sieck & P. Kruse which were established in 1882. Continiously growing crops over the last decades made it necessary to create further capacities for grain handling in strategic locations. This resulted in the merger between Sieck and Kruse in 1982 and the subsequent establishment of the Getreide AG.
Since then the owners of Getreide AG, Messrs. Peter and Alexander Rothe, have developed new markets for the most important grain trading company of Schleswig-Holstein, in Hamburg and Lower Saxonia as well as, following the German reunification in 1990, in the new federal states of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony-Anhalt, Brandenburg, Saxony and Thuringia.
The annual trading volume amounts to about 5 million mt.
